She thought she’d try a little breath-holding down at the bottom. She’d been holding her breath for about thirty seconds when it came on her unexpectedly. She inhaled before she could stop herself.
She had seizures as she went into spasms and convulsions. She was helpless to keep from inhaling more and more pool water. Her lungs slowly flooded until bubbles stopped coming out of her parted lips.
She gently hitched and spasmed. Then the life winked out of her eyes. The owner would find her in there after dark when he got home from work. less
